Come and learn analogue photography skills!

Located in Hampshire on the Northern edge of the North Wessex Downs my darkroom is a place where you can come to the to learn Learn Darkroom and Analogue photography skills. At the North Wessex Darkroom I can teach individuals of small groups. More details of scheduled Darkroom Skills workshops will be available on this page in the near future, in the meantime if you would like to get into film or another Analogue process why not get in contact to see what I can provide? The darkroom is climate controlled and is equipped make print enlargements as well as alternative process printing.

• Never used a film camera before ? No problem I can show you how from loading to printing.
• You would like to learn to develop film? No problem! what format? 35mm. 120, 5×4 or something more unusual?
• The ultimate and most rewarding goal is to hold your printed work in your hand, Come and learn how to make beautiful silver gelatine darkroom prints.
• Colour ? normally work is in monochrome but if you want to develop in C41 or E6 we can do that.
• Digital Photography… well no. While I will give basic advice, if you really want to take digital pictures there are better teachers out there !
• Chemicals and materials are provided as need for your workshop.

I also have a mobile Darkroom therefore it may be possible for me to bring a Darkroom workshop to you, if for example you would like a teaching session at a school or other venue. From Pinhole photography to Large Format Film there are a wide range of photographic skills you can learn or improve.

Note some photographic chemicals are quite toxic, but don’t be concerned, all darkroom workshops include a safety briefing and appropriate PPE will be provided. The darkroom also has a very effective automated ventilation system.
